A relative newcomer to the cloud market, GoDaddy, through their “GoDaddy PRO” brand is offering cloud servers with features which are comparable to the likes of Digital Ocean or Vultr. Some of the features you will find here include KVM virtualization, SSD drives, private networking, and instant server creation. Pricing, platform, and plans are similar to the competition. The cloud control panel at GoDaddy is pretty good, and fairly straightforward. Although GoDaddy has only 3 data centers so far they appear to be building out this product, having announced a 4th data center in Singapore is on the way soon.
One thing that GoDaddy has going for it and could be seen as an advantage, or detriment depending on your feelings toward them, is their size and brand. They are GoDaddy, a huge name in the domain and hosting field. Having been in business for many years, they have deep pockets. It is expected that they might throw some of that weight into this service. It is also convenient that if you are an existing GoDaddy customer, like millions of others, this product integrates with your existing account.
My only real issue with them is that GoDaddy is a bit overzealous on their up selling, bombarding their customers with upgrade offers when all they really want is to register a domain. I didn’t really experience this with the cloud platform so much, however I am still a tad bitter about how annoying they were on the domain side.
Truthfully though they have a decent service offering here, still not quite as feature rich as others, but they have the potential to give the others a run for their money. They are also offering a 30 day free trial, so you can try them out without any risk.
